Quotes from the founder Timoteo Marin Rodriguez

“In few words… I am a person who loves his job. Correction! I am a person who has a deep passion for the underwater world; It is an integral part of who I am, and I want to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with you. I want you to be able to experience the indescribable feeling that I feel every time I am beneath the surface of the water."

“Diving is not just my profession, it is my calling. I began diving when I was only 15-years old, and I became a dive guide at age 18. When I turned 18 years old, I truly became a part of this awesome underwater world. I now have over 10 years of experience as a dive guide, and I have logged more than 10 thousand dives. I have worked with many of the dive shops in the Cancun area, and I also worked as a security diver for Galatee Films in the 2009 French-American nature documentary film, Oceans, which was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.”

A cenote is a natural pit or sinkhole resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings, now, they are very famous tourism sites to enjoy differents activities and one of them is cavern diving or cenote diving Cancun!

The term derives from a word used by the Mayans – ts’onot. Cenote water is often very clear, as the water comes from rain water filtering slowly through the ground, and therefore contains very little suspended particulate matter.

Diving in cenotes or caverns you will find beautiful ceiling and floor decorations called stalactites and stalagmites, when they meet they create columns. When light enters the water through cavern openings, it creates beautiful beams of light which photographers love. In some cenotes sites, it is possible to view a zone of water known as the Halocline, it is the meeting point of fresh and salt water creating a blurred vision effect. Another phenomenon found under water in the cenotes is a Hydrogen sulfide cloud, hydrogen sulfide is a common chemical compound, it is a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs and it looks like cloud under water. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy the cenote diving Cancun! These are spectacular dives and make for a truly unforgettable diving experience.

PLEASE NOTE: These dives are available only for certified open water divers and conducted with the guidance of a fully certified cave diver.
