Guided tours PADI - Advanced Open Water Diver

Manta Rays, Sharks and Whale Sharks

Duration
11 days

The daily diving program consists of three dives, all on top sites and are mainly devoted to finding "big stuff".

The chances of seeing mantas and sharks is high (over the past years we have seen them during all safari's) and the chances of seeing whale sharks is also high (we have seen them during all two week safaris).

The chances of seeing mantas and sharks is high (over the past years we have seen them during all safari's) and the chances of seeing whale sharks is also high (we have seen them during all two week safaris).

We dive on Thilas (mostly small round atoll reefs rising up from the atoll bottem), Kandu's (channels through which the ocean water flows in and out of the atolls) and Faru's (reefs).

Furthermore, we do wreck dives, night dives and drift dives.

In the ideal situation, we gradually build up the dives starting with relatively sheltered locations at the beginning of the safari so the divers can get used to the currents and we end the safari with kandu dives with lots of sharks. This, however, given the locations and tides is not always possible.

Safariboat

Staying at a tourist resort is comfortable and pleasant but also has its limitations. Because you can’t go out further than 30 minutes from the resort. You don’t see a lot of the country and the diving is limited to the 2 or 3 top dive sites and the 10 mediocre dive sites around the area.

Staying at a tourist resort is comfortable and pleasant but also has its limitations. Because you can’t go out further than 30 minutes from the resort. You don’t see a lot of the country and the diving is limited to the 2 or 3 top dive sites and the 10 mediocre dive sites around the area.

In the special situation (like whaleshark watching) the resort dhoni goes out further, you are charged a rediculous amount and you can only get two dives in as you don’t have the time to do more.

A safariboat resolves al these problems as a safariboat sails along the best dive sites and shortens the trip with the dhoni. After the dive, the equipment remains on the dhoni and the only thing you have to do is to step on to the safari boat.

Most of the dive sites to ourselves

We organise mainly longer safaris to sail “out of sync” with 95% of the other boats who only organise one week trips.

Because of this we have most dive sites to ourselves. Guest who want to dive alone with their dive buddy can do this after the check dive. This is especially convenient for photo-and videographers who don’t want anybody around.

Last couple of years we operated a dozen different boats but the way the Dhinasha is managed is exceptional professional, the boat is kept in a very good shape and the crew is among the very best we have worked with in the Maldives.

Out boat 'The Dinasha'

The Dinasha is 28 meters long and 9 meters wide and has 7 cabins from which 4 cabins with a double and single bed and 3 cabins with two single beds.

Key facts:

  • There is an additional cabin for the dive guide.

  • All cabins have ensuite shower and toilet and all cabins have airconditioning and a fan.

  • The Dhinasha can accommodate 14 guests.

  • On the upper deck there is a large sundeck with plenty of shade and on both the front- and the reardeck there is plenty of space.
The last renovation was in 2013 when all cabins were completely renewed.

  • In 2014, the generator was replaced and is also the main engine was overhauled.

  • The cruising speed of the Dhinasha is 12 knots.

  • The accompanying dhoni holds the 2 compressors with a total capacity of 530l/min and the 80cuft aluminium dive tanks.
On our dhoni we also have a O2 tank for emergency situations.

After the dive, the equipment remains on the dhoni and the only thing you have to do is step on to the safari boat.

Read a book, enjoy the wheater, have a drink, play a game, talk about what you have seen and what you hope to see.

Whatever you do….. make sure you love doing it!
